Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech volleyball team got off to a rough start on day one of the IWU-TU Crossover Volleyball Tournament as the Warriors dropped both matches in Upland, Ind. on Friday night. The two losses drop the Orange and Black to 1-5 on the season while Taylor improves to 1-4 and Marian (Ind.) move to 2-0.

Match One

Indiana Tech squared off against host Taylor for the first match of the day and hurt themselves by committing 27 errors in route to a hitting percentage of .000 and a three set loss (22-25, 24-26, 17-25).

Cassandra Sarabia and Christine Foest led the team in kills at eight, with Suzanne Taylor adding five as the team tallied just 27 kills in the three sets. The slow offense led to just 26 assists with 18 going to Alexandra Roberts and six to senior Kelsey Fitzpatrick.

The Warriors tallied five service aces with Sarabia accounting for three herself and she also added six digs. Taylor Kelso led the team in digs colleting 10 of the teams 38 while Roberts equal Sarabia in that category.

Taylor meanwhile did just enough to win as they hit just .176 for the match, tallying 39 kills and 41 digs. They also out blocked the Warriors 13-4.

Match Two

Tech didn't fare much better in the second match of the day, dropping three straight to Marian after winning the first set (25-23, 20-25, 28-30, 17-25).

Shanice Richards was the shining star for the Warriors as she broke out up front tallying a team high 15 kills while Taylor and Alexis Morrison each totaled seven. Fitzpatrick led the team in assists while Emileen Palka added 16.

Fitzpatrick, Kelso and Sarabia were big on defense as well tallying a combined 42 digs, 16, 15 and 11 respectively. Stacy Nagy also showed up at the net as she collected three solo blocks in the four sets.

"Today was a huge challenge and we played well at times," Head Coach Kourtney Volkmer stated. "We have some great players and a lot of potential. I'm excited for the competition that is ahead of us."

The Warriors return to the court at 11 a.m. tomorrow as they take on Olivet Nazarene in Marion, Ind. before facing 17th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan at 1:30 p.m. The match against IWU can be seen here.
