Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech men's soccer team had their six-game unbeaten streak snapped on Wednesday at Warrior Field, falling 4-1 to cross town rival, St. Francis (Ind.). The Cougars won back the Fort Wayne Cup for the first time since 2009 and improve to 6-2-1 while the Warriors fall to 5-1-1 in 2013.

The Cougars struck first in the first half scoring in the 32nd minute on a great pass. Alexis Ferreira da Silva tapped the ball between the two center backs and past Reece Richardson, who had come out to defend, and Jason Walcutt ran onto the ball inside the 18 for an easy open net goal.

Solid defense by the Cougars and a lack of possession by the Warriors kept the score a 1-0 in favor of St. Francis. The Orange and Black outshot the Cougars 8-7 in the period, but the teams were all square in shots on goal at three each.

The Cougars came out of the break with loads of energy and a well timed cross led to their second goal. St. Francis sent a cross to Grant Anikienko who sent the ball into the 18 where it was headed by Walcutt to the feet of da Silva who beat Richardson in a one-on-one in the box for a two goal advantage.

Yet another open net goal was scored by Walcutt in the 65th minute as Anikienko sent another deep ball into the Warriors half and as Richardson tried to corral the ball he fell and Walcutt rushed past for the open net goal.

Indiana Tech finally got on the board with 21:29 left to play off a set piece on the near side of the field. Padraic Ormsby sent the ball into the box where Stuart Mitchell settled the ball and found an open Fabian Kauffman who beat USF keeper Brad Buzzard for the goal.

Four minutes later the Cougars took all the momentum from Tech as Walcutt tallied a hat trick, beating the defense to the ball, another long pass this time form Josh Underwood and WAlvutt beat Richardson one-on-one for the three goal lead, 4-1.

USF dominated possession and outshot Tech 16-13 for the game including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. Richardson tallied five saves while Buzzard made six, while Tech won in corner kicks, 9-2.

The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Warrior Field as they open WHAC play against Davenport with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
