@IndianaTechVB Suffers 3-1 Setback Against Lourdes

Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio –The Indiana Tech volleyball team lost their fourth consecutive game on Wednesday night as they suffered a 3-1 (15-25, 23-25, 25-19, 16-25) loss to WHAC opponent Lourdes. The Warriors fall to 2-2 in the conference and 4-15 overall while the Gray Wolves earned their first WHAC win of the season and are now 1-2 in conference and 9-6 overall.

The Warriors got off to a slow start in the first set, falling behind 4-1 and never recovered as the Grey Wolves used a .355 attack percentage to propel them to a 25-15 victory. Katelyn St. Martin led the offence with four of the Warriors nine kills in the first set while also recording the teams only service ace in the set. Alexandra Roberts tallied a team-high three digs while four others added two.

Tech doubled their hitting percentage in set two, hitting .108, led by four kills from Suzanne Taylor and three from Shanice Richards, who also added one block assists. But it wasn't enough, despite getting ahead 20-14, the Warriors couldn't score the final five points, getting outscore 11-3 to lose the set 25-23.

Despite the disappointing finish to set two, the Orange and Black bounced back to win the third set 25-19. The Grey Wolves tied the game at 14 but this time Tech was able to close strong, outscoring Lourdes 11-5. Tech hit a match-high .159 in the third set, getting three kills each from Taylor and St. Martin while Cassandra Sarabia added two.

The momentum was short-lived, however, as Lourdes got out to a quick lead in the final set and didn't let up, winning 25-14. The Warriors hit just .106 in the final set while the Grey Wolves hit .341, tallying 16 kills to 12 for the Warriors. Taylor did her best as she tallied six kills in the set, while Christine Foest added two. Taylor Kelso did her part as well as she collected 13 of her 25 digs in the final game.

For the match, the Warriors hit .110 while the Grey Wolves hit .208. Taylor tallied 13 kills while St. Martin added eight and Stacy Nagy tallied six. Roberts had 20 assists while Kelsey Fitzpatrick added 12.

St. Martin also had 16 digs with Roberts adding 13 to Kelso's team-high 25. The Warriors also tallied six blocks in the match with Richards tallying four block assists and Foest recording the lone solo block.

The Warriors return to action on Friday, Sept. 27 when they host crosstown rival St. Francis (Ind.) as part of Community Volleyball with the match slated to start at 7 p.m.
