Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech men's tennis team won their fourth match of the season, defeating crosstown rival Cougars of the University of St. Francis, 8-1 on Friday night at Swinney Park. The Warriors end their fall season 4-1 while the Cougars fall to 4-9.
The Warriors got off to a great start as they swept doubles play led by
Sriram Aranganathan and
Mikel Oscoz who defeated the duo of Ryan Mey and Daniel Harrold, 8-0 to move to 2-0 on the season.
Joaquin Ferrando and Joaquin de Leon (2-0) won 8-4 over Nathan Barger and Matt Stallman while
Vinicius Silva and
Sergio Riveros (1-0) downed Tate Dishman and Payton Selking, 8-6.
In singles play, the lone loss came in a double tie-break at No. 1 where Aranganathan fell to 6-3 on the season, 3-2 in duals, with a 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) loss to Barger. At No. 2, Oscoz beat Stallman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 while No. 3 Rosario won 6-1, 6-3 over Selking.
Alberto Tenias improved to 3-1 in duals this fall with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Dishman.
Nicholas Tripanon won at No. 5 while Riveros won his first singles match of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Michael Thompson at No. 6.
The Warriors will return to the court in when their spring season begins in 2014.
