Box Score LIVONIA, Mich. – Led by a school record and career-high 37 points from Ulyssia Richmond, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team escaped the Madonna University Activities Center with a one-point, 94-93 victory on Wednesday night. The victory over Madonna snapped a five-game losing streak and the Warriors first win since Dec, 14.

The Warriors (10-9, 7-4) got on the board first with a Rachael Kruse jumper seven seconds into the game, giving Tech their first of five leads of the half. The Crusaders (7-11, 5-6) got a basket from Chelsea Williams to tie the game and her and-one free throw gave Madonna the 3-2 lead. After trading the lead three times and tying again, MU used a 15-3 run over the next 3:40 to take an 11-point, 20-9 lead. Richmond's second of her career-high seven three-pointers ended the run and sparked the Warriors to a 22-7 run, including two more deep balls, giving Tech a 31-27 lead. The Orange and Black stretched the lead to seven, 44-37, with 4:24 to play in the period, however, a 15-7 run by the Crusaders to end the half accounted for the 52-51 Madonna lead at the break.

It was a back-and-forth battle to start the second half as the lead changed hands nine times and tied three times in the first six minutes of the period. Chelsea Carradine's jumper, her eighth of 17 second half points, gave the Warriors a 68-67 lead with 13:32 left to play, a one-point lead they didn't relinquish. It sparked a 14-4 run by Tech, giving them a nine point lead, 80-71, with 9:26 to play. A 9-0 run by the Crusaders cut the lead to one, before Richmond made a layup and converted the free throw for a four point lead. The two teams traded baskets over the next four minutes, until Richmond sank the last of her three's to give Tech a 94-89 lead. Two Williams free throws cut the lead to three and a layup by Hayley Stempien cut the lead to one, 94-93, with 59 seconds to play. The Crusaders missed a three and a jumper in the final 24 seconds, accounting for the Warriors victory.

Tech won the contest thanks to a 20-12 advantage in second-chance points and a 56-45 rebounding margin. The Orange and Black finished the contest 35-for-78 (44.9%) from the field, 10-for-19 (52.6%) from behind the arc and 14-for-19 (73.7%) from the charity stripe. On the other end of the floor, the Crusaders shot 41 percent (32-for-78) in the contest including an 11-for-21 (52.4%) mark from three. MU finished 18-for-29 (62.1%) from the free throw line, a major factor in the game's outcome.

Richmond finished the contest with a career-high 13 field goals made, seven three-point field goals made and broke Hannah Thieke's scoring record (36) set against UNOH on Dec. 3, 2008. Carradine finished with her eighth double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Kruse added nine points.

The Crusaders finished with three players in double-figures led by Williams' 27 points while Lizzy Otten added 25, including going 6-for-7 from behind the arc.

The Warriors return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 18 when they host WHAC foe Lawrence Tech at 1 p.m.
