Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – With 41 second-half points, the Indiana Tech men's basketball team overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat the University of Michigan – Dearborn 68-59 on Wednesday night at the Schaefer Center.

The Warriors improves to 13-8 on the season and 8-5 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while Head Coach Al Grushkin earned his 80th win in just his fourth season with the program.

Antwan Cathey started the night with a bang, winning the opening tip before jamming home a pass from Tanner Watkins. The lead was short-lived; however, as the Wolverines (4-16, 2-11) used an 11-2 run to take a seven-point, 11-4 lead at the 14:21 mark before a Nick Lewis free throw seconds later ended a five minute scoring drought for Tech. The two teams traded baskets, with UMD leading by as many as 10 points, 21-11, at the 6:57 mark. A 16-9 run by the Orange and Black cut the lead to three, 30-27, but two free throws accounted for the UMD five-points, 32-27 lead at the break.

The Maize and Blue outscored Tech 16-12 inside, 6-2 in points off turnovers and outrebounded the Warriors 20-16 in the half. Tyrece Edwards led all scorers with seven points for the Warriors while Khalil Beidoun had six for UMD.

A 5-2 run to start the second half gave UMD an eight-point lead. A 7-0 run by the Warriors, capped by a Watkins three gave Tech their first lead since leading 4-2 in the first half. The 38-37 lead sparked a 10 minute period that saw seven ties and five lead changes, the last coming with 3:20 to play as Cathey's layup put the Warriors ahead for good, 54-52. Rontray Chavis hit all 10 of his free throws in the final 2:30 to ice the game away, 68-59.

Tech dominated the paint in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines 20-6 inside while each team grabbed 19 rebounds in the period. The Tech offense shot 56.5 percent in the second half to finish 22-for-48 (45.8%) from the field, 1-for-8 (12.5%) from three and 23-for-26 (88.5%) from the free throw line, missing just one in the second half. On defense, the Warriors held UMD to just 29.5 percent (18-for-61) shooting including a 26.7 percent (4-for-15) mark from behind the arc. The Wolverines finished the contest 19-for-26 (73.1%) from the charity stripe.

Chavis finished the contest with a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds while Lewis finished with 13 and Jeff Hoskins added 12. John Cooksey was big on the glass, pulling down eight boards.

Jeff Fick paced UMD with 10 points while Marcus Tilmon-Comet led the team with eight rebounds.

The Warriors return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Aquinas at 3 p.m.
