Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Despite outshooting their opponent, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team suffered their third straight loss on Saturday, falling 56-52 to Northwestern Ohio at the Schaefer Center.
The Warriors (9-7, 6-2) got off to a fast start, scoring the game's first six points and 12 of the first 13 to lead 12-1 with 12:30 in the first half. After stretching the lead to 12 points, 18-6, the Orange and Black went scoreless over the next 4:15 as the Racers (8-8, 4-3) went on an 11-2 run to cut the lead to one, 19-18 with six minutes to play in the half. Rayana Villalpando snapped the run with a jumper at the five minute mark, allowing the Warriors to stretch the lead back to five, 25-20 at the half.
For the half, the Warriors shot 39.1 percent (9-for-23) from the floor while going 2-for-8 (25%) from three and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the free throw line. The defense held the Racers to 7-for-36 (19.4%) shooting including a 2-for-11 (18.2%) mark from behind the arc. UNOH hurt themselves at the line, going just 4-for-10 (40%) in the half.

Ulyssia Richmond paced the Warriors with five first half points while Sammi Dervisevic led Racers with six.
The Orange and Black struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the second half, as the Racers opened the period on an 11-2 run to take a four-point, 31-27 lead. A 9-2 run by the Warriors gave them their own three-point lead, 36-33 with 11:47 to play. The Racers went on to outscore Tech 23-16 the rest of the way to take the contest 56-52. The Warriors had three chances to knock down the game-tying three in the final two minutes, but missed all three.
Tech finished the contest 17-for-52 (32.7%) from the field and just 4-for-18 (22.2%) from three while converting 14-of-16 (87.5%) free throws. The defense played well, holding the Racers to 30 percent (18-for-60) from the floor, but UNOH converted 6-of-15 (40%) attempts from behind the arc and went 14-for- 24 (58.3%) from the line. The difference in the game was on the boards as the Racers grabbed 52 rebounds to just 33 for the Warriors including a 21-5 margin in offensive rebounds.
Kruse led the Warriors with 16 points while
Chelsea Carradine finished with 10. Richmond led the team with six rebounds while scoring nine points.
Dervisevic led UNOH with a double-double, scoring a game-high 24 points and grabbing 10 boards.
The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 8 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Cornerstone at 6 p.m.
