SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech volleyball team ended its three game road trip with a win on Wednesday, defeating Lourdes in for sets, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 27-25, 27-25). Tech improves to 9-7 overall and 4-4 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while Lourdes falls to 9-9 on the season and 5-4 in conference action.
It was a tightly contested match from the first serve with the teams combing for 31 ties and 12 lead changes in the four sets with a match high 14 ties in the fourth game and six lead changes in game one. The Warriors hit .190 (62-29-174) for the match while the Gray Wolves hit just .155 (53-24-187). The Warriors outhit the home team in every game except game two, their lone loss.
Shanice Richards had her best offensive game of the season, leading the team with 19 kills while also recording a match-high .516 (19-3-31) hitting percentage.
Stacy Nagy added 16 kills with
Christine Foest tallying 11 and
Cassandra Sarabia chipping in 10.
Karli Jones tallied 31 assists while
Emileen Palka added 22 for Tech.
Taylor Kelso was solid on defense, collecting 25 of the Warriors 89 digs with
Janelle Rehlander adding 14 and
Elizabeth Mathews tallying 13. Tech also tallied 16 block assists in the match with Foest (6) and Richards (5) combining for 11 on the night.
After capturing their first road win of 2014, the Warriors look to carry some momentum into their next contests, a home tilt with No. 9 Madonna on Friday, Oct. 3. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Kline Court in the Schaefer Center.
