RESULTS | ADRIAN, Mich. – Led by Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Medalist,
Courtney Dye, the Indiana Tech women's golf team wrapped up the WHAC Regular Season Championship with a first place finish at WHAC Jamboree No. 5 hosted by Siena Heights at Lenawee Country Club on Saturday.
The Warriors finished with a team score of 326, besting second place Madonna by seven strokes to win the title by eight, 1618 to 1626. Dye, who took home medalist honors with the best average, 77.20, through five events, won the jamboree with a four-over par 75.
Joining Dye as WHAC First-Team selections were
Wiebke Schlender and
Breanna Post who finished with averages of 80.40 and 81.60, respectively. The Orange and Black were the only team to have multiple first-team members.
Schlender finished fourth overall and second for the Warriors at the event with an 82 while Post finished fourth for the Warriors and 10th overall with an 85. Freshman
Bailey Bostler rounded out the Warriors scoring with an 84 to finish sixth overall.
Senior team captain,
Rachel George, carded an 88 while another freshman,
Jerika Bland, shot 103.
Tech won the event with a 326, followed by Madonna (333) and the hosts, Siena Heights (335). Davenport took fourth with a 350 while Lawrence Tech rounded out the top five with a 355.
The win means the Warriors will host the WHAC Conference Championship, which decides who will represent the WHAC at NAIA Nationals, in the spring.
Tech concludes its fall season at the NAIA Fall Preview tournament hosted by SCAD Savannah, Oct. 26-28. The event will be played at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Savannah, Ga. and is the host site for the 2015 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships.
