FORT WAYNE, Ind. – It was senior day at the Warrior Athletic Field on Saturday and the Indiana Tech men's soccer team got off to a solid start, however, a quiet second half doomed the Warriors (5-6-1) in a 5-3 loss to Rochester College.
It was a battle of the Warriors, also Rochester's mascot, and Tech took their early advantage as senior,
Robbie Kiernan, found the boot of
Adam Knight with a cross on the far post for the first tally of the game in the seventh minute. It wasn't a long lead though, as RC netted the equalizer just one minute later.
In the 23rd minute the visitors tallied another goal, but the Warriors had an answer as senior
Sam Didion's cross found the foot of
Zachary St. Aubin on the back side of the keeper to tie the score at 2. Rochester answered again, but the senior parade continued as Kiernan got in on the scoring with an assist from St. Aubin. In the 42nd minute, St. Aubin headed a cross off the post that landed at the feet of Kiernan who had an open net for his first marker of the season and a 3-3 score at the half.
The momentum didn't carry into the second half though as Rochester netted two unanswered goals in the 48th and 82nd minute to spoil senior day for Tech.
The Orange and Black outshot their opponent, 17-14 in the contest with a 9-8 edge in shots on goal. Ethan West made six saves for RC while freshman keeper
Logan Kelly made three saves for Tech.
St. Aubin led the team with six shots, putting three on goal while scoring once and registering an assist. Kiernan connected on his only shot of the game, also adding an assist.
Tech will look to end their four-game losing skid in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they face Concordia (Mich.) at 4 p.m.
