RESULTS | SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Indiana Tech women's golf team, who finished ninth at last season's NAIA National Championship, concluded play at the NAIA Fall Preview event held at Savannah Quarters Country Club, the host of the 2015 NAIA National Championships, finishing third. National runner-up in 2014, SCAD-Savannah, hosted the event that featured 16 teams, 10 of whom were ranked to end last season.
Tech carded a final round 320 to finish with a 36-hole total of 634, besting two schools who finished ahead of them in the final poll last season in Bellevue (Neb.) (6th) and Coastal Georgia (14th).
A pair of sophomores,
Wiebke Schlender and
Courtney Dye, led the scoring in round two for the Warriors, both carding four-over 76's. Schlender played the back nine event while Dye had a better front than back nine. Schlender finished third with a total of 147 (71-76) while Dye tied for 23rd with a two-day total of 159 (83-76).
The freshman duo of
Breanna Post and
Bailey Bostler both played well, with Post finishing tied for 21st while Bostler was 47th. Post carded a second round 81 to finish with a two-day total of 158 (77-81) with Bostler carding a final round 87 to finish with a 170 (83-87). Senior captain,
Rachel George, rounded out the scoring for Tech with a tournament total of 192 (89-103).
Northwood (Fla.) won the event by one stroke with a tournament total of 605 (296-309) with the host Bees carding a 606 (304-302). The Warriors took third at 634 (314-320) with Embry-Riddle (Fla.) taking fourth with a 638 (314-324) and Dalton St. (315-325=640) rounded out the top five.
