@INTechMSoccer's Comeback Falls Short in 2-1 Loss

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team continued its struggles against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, Michigan-Dearborn, on Wednesday, falling for the second time in the last two meetings, 2-1 at Warrior Athletic Field.

The Warriors (5-3-1, 2-2 WHAC) dominated much of the first half and nearly took an early lead as Zachary St. Aubin got his boot on a rebound but the ball bounced off the post then the cross bar before falling untouched to the pitch. Tech attempted seven shots before the Wolverines attempted the first, however in the 29th minute that shot found the net, making it 1-0.

The second half began as the first half ended, with UMD netting another marker just 15 seconds into the period to make it 2-0. In the 79th minute, St. Aubin got his second chance and didn't miss as he netted his fourth tally of the season. Andrew Higgins passed the ball to Padraic Ormsby who sent a cross into the box, where St. Aubin found an open net to cut the lead in half, 2-1.

In the 82nd minute, it appeared the Warriors had netted the equalizer, scoring on a rebound, however, the linesman called offsides, negating the tally, ending the last real threat for the Orange and Black.

Tech outshot the Wolverines, 19-8 in the contest including an 11-1 mark in the first half. Despite the shot discrepancies, both teams put six shots on frame in the contest. Andrew Pietrzak made five saves in the contest while Warriors keeper, Adam Viviano collected three saves in 90 minutes.

Stuart Mitchell led the team with four shots, putting two on frame, while four others attempted three shots with four others placing at least one on goal.

The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face No.3 Davenport with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
