@INTechMBB Bit by Tigers in Season Opener

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team started fast, but couldn't maintain an early lead, falling to Olivet Nazarene, 88-49, on homecoming at McHie Arena on Friday night.

After falling behind, 3-0, the Warriors (0-1) cut the lead to one on a pair of Chester McFadden free throws before taking their first lead of the 2014-15 campaign on a McFadden layup to make it 4-3. Lavonte Davis pushed the lead to three and a Torrance Evans three-pointer made it 10-3 Tech, their largest lead of the contest.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, the media timeout was called and Tech went six minutes in between baskets, allowing the Tigers (1-0) to go on an 18-0 run to make it 21-10 with seven minutes to play in the first half. Jeremy Wohltman knocked down a jumper to end the run, but the Orange and Black couldn't find a rhythm offensively in the loss.

The Warriors finished the contest 16-for-61 (26.2%) from the field and 4-for-23 (17.4%) from three while grabbing 35 rebounds. ONU shot 50 percent (35-70) in the game, including an 8-for-21 (38.1) mark from three while collecting 55 boards.

Torrance Evans finished with a team-high nine points while Tyrece Edwards had a team-high six rebounds while also dropping eight points.

Tech returns to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 4 when they welcome crosstown rival, No. 15 University of St. Francis to the Schaefer Center at 7 p.m.
