FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team played its third ranked opponent in as many games, falling to 19th-ranked Huntington, 71-48 at the Schaefer Center on Tuesday night.
The Warriors (0-4) looked good early on as
Shallante Clements scored the game's first two points on a pair of free throws and
Sarah White made it 4-2 with a jumper minutes later. A 9-0 run gave the Foresters (3-1) a seven-point advantage, 11-4, but
Linsey Masnari converted a layup at 13:58 to cut the deficit to four, 13-9. The Orange and Black failed to score in the final 4:36 of the first half, leading to 41-20 margin at the break.
Tech gave a valiant second-half effort, losing by two, 30-28, but couldn't overcome a 21-point halftime deficit. The Warriors struggled at both ends of the floor, shooting 28.1 percent (16-for-57) from the floor and 26.7 percent (4-for-15) from the three-point arc in the game, while the Foresters (3-1) knocked down 23-of-51 (45.1%) shots including a 6-for-14 (42.9%) mark from behind the arc.
Masnari led the Warriors with 13 points and added five rebounds with
Shallante Clements leading Tech in that category with nine.
Tech returns to the court in search of their first win of the season when they host Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, Concordia on Thursday, Nov. 13 with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
