#15 Panthers too Much for @IndianaTechVB in WHAC Quarterfinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The eighth-seeded Indiana Tech volleyball team put up quite a fight in their matchup against top-seeded and 15th-ranked Davenport in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference quarterfinals, ultimately falling in three sets.

The Warriors (18-17) got behind early as the Panthers (32-7) won 11 of the first 14 points and 13-of-18 for an eight-point advantage. Tech didn't quit, showing resiliency in winning the next six points to cut the deficit to two, 13-11. A Cassandra Sarabia kill ended a three-point DU rally and sparked a four-point run for the Warriors, cutting the lead to one, 16-15. The home team answered with a five-point rally and went on to win the opening set, 25-19.

The Orange and Black took their first lead of the match early in game two as a Christine Foest kill started a four-point rally giving Tech a 5-3 advantage. The Panthers were too much though, winning 20 of the final 32 points to take the second game, 25-15.

Tech was able to again hang with the home team early in the final game, tying at 2 and 5, but couldn't find an offensive rhythm in the 25-11 loss.

Senior Shanice Richards paced the Warriors with seven kills and a .278 hitting percentage while fellow senior, Foest and sophomore, Sarabia each collected five kills. Another senior, Emileen Palka, led the team with 13 assists while sophomore libero, Taylor Kelso, tallied 20 digs.

The loss ends the season for the Warriors and the careers for six seniors, including three WHAC Honorable Mention honorees and three All-Academic team members.
