CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The 8th-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team took part in the Campbellsville Duals at Grosser Gym hosted by Campbellsville University on Saturday. The Warriors finished the day 2-1, defeating St. Andrews University, 44-2, as well as St. Catharine College, 39-18. The Orange and Black's only loss was to host Campbellsville, 13-32, who finished tied for eighth with the Warriors in last week's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll.
In their first dual match of the day against the Knights, Tech won nine of the 10 weight classes, including five by pin. The Warriors followed that with a late morning dual match against the host Tigers with just one pin before regrouping with three pins against the Patriots. Three Warriors went 3-0 on the day.
Brett Yarbrough (3-0) started with a 10-1 major decision in his first match and followed that with the Warriors' only pin against Campbellsville at 3:24 before registering a forfeit win in round three at 133-pounds.
At 165-pounds,
Jacob Johnson (3-0) was the best Warrior on paper with two pins and a major decision. He started out with a pin against St. Andrews before recording an 11-3 major decision against the host Tigers. Johnson finished the day with his second pin against St. Catharine.
Darryl Grayson (3-0) got two wins at 184-pounds and one at 197-pounds. Grayson started the day with a pin at 184-pounds, and then took a 6-2 decision over the Tigers at 197-pounds. He finished the day as he started it- with a pin at 184-pounds.
Chase Hack (2-0) also went undefeated on the day at 157-pounds. He started with a 10-6 decision in the first match before getting a 9-4 decision in the third match.
Robert Humphrey (1-0) also went undefeated for Tech by winning his lone match with a pin against St. Andrews at 141-pounds.
The Warriors return to the mats on Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Purdue Invitational at West Lafayette, Ind.
