@INTechMBB Falls at the Buzzer to Cardinals, 69-67

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team put up a fight against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference rival Concordia University Wednesday night in the Schaefer Center.  Tech started off strong but with the Cardinals fought back late and in a thrilling final 20 seconds, the Warriors fell 69-67.

The Warriors (5-9, 3-5) coming off of two games losing by three points or less, started fast, going on a 22-11 run before allowing the Cardinals (8-4, 7-1 WHAC) to bounce back to close the half on their own 24-13 run to tie the score at 35 at the break. Franklin Lindsey led all scorers with 13 points while also collected nine rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.

A back-and-forth battle erupted at the beginning of the second half with the two teams combining for four ties and three lead changes in the first 10 minutes. A pair of free throws by the Cardinals ignited a seven point run to make it 55-48 with nine minutes to play. Tech clawed their way back, using a 17-10 run over the final eight minutes to tie the score at 67 on a Tanner Watkins three-pointer with 12 seconds to play. Concordia got the offensive rebound at the other end of the floor and hit a jumper with .6 seconds left for the 69-67 win.

The Warriors finished the contest 25-for-60 (41.7%) from the floor while shooting 50 percent (12-for-24) from long range and going 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the charity stripe. Tech outrebounded the Cardinals 38-35 in the contest, posting 14 assists.

Watkins finished with a game-high 25 points while Lindsey recorded his second double-double this season with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Chester McFadden added 11 points while Tyrece Edwards had seven assists.
