INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Playing the first of three games against ranked teams, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team saw their three-game win streak come to an end with a 50-91 loss to 12th-ranked Marian at the PE Center on Friday night.
Baylee Rinehart got the scoring started with a pair of free throws and
Shallante Clements followed a Marian layup with one of her own to give Tech their second lead. The Knights (12-1) scored the next six points, but
Taylor Seiss hit a three-pointer for the Warriors (7-8) to end the run, cutting the lead to three. The home team then used a 14-1 run to push the deficit to 16, eventually heading to the break with a 31-point, 52-21 lead.
The Knights showed why they are the No. 12 team in the nation, not allowing the Warriors to get closer than 30 points the rest of the way. The Orange and Black struggled offensively, shooting 23.4 percent (15-for-64) from the field while going 5-for-26 (19.2%) from behind the arc and converting 15-of-21 (71.4%) free throws in the contest.
Linsey Masnari led all scorers with 19 points with Rinehart adding 10 with Clements grabbing 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
Tech returns to Fort Wayne for an away game at the Hutzell Athletic Center on Tuesday, Dec. 30 as they square off against crosstown rival, eighth-ranked University of Saint Francis. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
