Davis, Bloom Lead @INTechMBB to WHAC Win, 93-73

DETROIT, Mich. – Led by a pair of 20-point efforts from Lavonte Davis and Jared Bloom, the Indiana Tech men's basketball team toppled Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, Marygrove, 93-73 at the NW Activities Center on Wednesday night.

After winning the opening tip, the Warriors (4-6, 2-3 WHAC) got on the board first with a Tanner Watkins three-pointer and made it 5-0 with a Davis jumper. An 11-2 run by the Mustangs (1-8, 05 WHAC) gave the home team a four-point lead. Franklin Lindsey knocked down a jumper to end the run and sparked a 9-0 run for Tech to give the Warriors the five-point advantage. The Mustangs got to within one again with 9:08 to play, but the Orange and Black closed the half on a 29-7 run to take a 14-point, 39-25 lead at the break.
The Warriors kept the pedal down in the second half, as the Mustangs never got to within single-digits.

Tech opened the second half outscoring Marygrove by six points to push the lead to 20. The Mustangs cut the lead to 12, but a 14-4 run allowed the Warriors to stretch the margin to 22 and led by as many as 23 in the contest before a late Marygrove basket made it 93-73 for the Tech win.

It was the second highest offensive output of the season for Tech, as the Warriors finished 37-for-63 (58.7%) from the field, 12-for-23 (52.2%) from behind the arc and 7-for-10 (70%) from the line. Tech won in every category, turning 15 Mustangs miscues into 24 points while the home team scored just six points on eight turnovers. The Warriors also outscored Marygrove 14-9 in second-chance points, 30-8 in the point and 11-2 in fast break points.

Davis and Bloom each tallied 20 points with the former finish 9-for-12 from the field while the latter was 7-for-10 including a 6-for-9 mark from long range. Franklin Lindsey fell one rebound shy of a double-double finishing with 17 points and nine boards with Davis adding eight boards.

The Warriors return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 6 when they return to the Schaefer Center to host WHAC opponent, Lourdes, for a 3 p.m. tip.
