@INTechMTennis Gets First Spring Win, Defeating Albion 7-2

Box Score ALBION, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team got its first win of the spring on Wednesday night, defeating the Brits of Albion College, 7-2 at the Ungrodt Tennis Center.

The Warriors, who improved to 5-4 on the season, got off to a good start in doubles play, taking two of the three matches. The Brits won at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, but Kino de Leon and Alberto Tenias won 8-6 at No. 2 while Sriram Aranganathan and Fernando Sousa took care of business at No. 3, 8-5.

In singles action, 37th-ranked Joaquin Ferrando fell to Eric Guindi in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, the only singles points the Brits would earn. Aranganathan had a tough matchup with Jonathan Gurnee at No. 2 singles, winning with a first set tiebreak, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. At No. 3 singles, de Leon went three sets as well, winning the first and third while dropping the middle game, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Tenisa, Gaston Raposo and Sousa had little trouble in the final three singles positions, while Sousa was the only Warrior to blank his opponent, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Tech hopes to keep the momentum going as they travel to Lima, Ohio on Friday, Mar. 14 to face Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, Northwestern Ohio. The match is set to being at 4 p.m.
