Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team handed Huntington their sixth loss of the season, while improving to 6-6 with an 8-1 defeat of the Foresters on Wednesday night.
After dropping No. 1 doubles, 8-4, the Warriors bounced back with victories at No. 2 (
Sriram Aranganathan/
Mikel Oscoz), 8-4 and at No. 3 doubles (
Fernando Sousa/
Vinicius Silva) 8-3 for a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Tech then swept the singles competition for the 8-1 win. Huntington made it interesting though as the two of the top three matches used a tiebreaker to determine the winner. At No. 1 singles,
Joaquin Ferrando defeated Vlad Khudziy, 6-1, 7-5 before Aranganathan downed Joseph Straznicky at No. 2, 6-3, 7-6 (10-3) and Sousa won at No. 3, 7-6 (10-3), 6-2. The final three singles players for Tech, Oscoz,
Kino de Leon and
Alberto Tenias, combined to lose just seven total games in their matches to seal the win.
Tech returns to the courts on Thursday, Apr. 3 as they are scheduled to play their first outdoor home contest against Bethel at 4 p.m.
