Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team faced some early adversity, but ultimately came out on top with a 5-2 victory over Trinity Christian in Palos Heights on Wednesday.

With the win, the Warriors (1-0) have won their last five season openers and are 2-3 all-time against the Trolls (1-1).

The Trolls got off to a fast start as a Tech foul just outside the top of the 18-yard box gave TCC an early scoring opportunity and Mauricio Salgado found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead just 1:39 into the contest. In the seventh minute the Warriors answered back with a goal off the foot of Bernard Wilson with an assist from Sam Didion for the equalizer.

In the eighth minute, the Warriors were handed a red card and forced to play a man down for the remainder of the contest, but the resilient Warriors continued to fight and kept the score tied going into the break.

It didn't take long for Tech to break the tie in the second half as Zachary St. Aubin, the Warriors leading scorer a year ago, netted his first of 2014 in the 45th minute with an assist from Mitch Smith. The Orange and Black dominated the second half as Smith scored the third goal of the game and second in less than a minute at the 46:18 mark, giving Tech the 3-1 lead.

Salgado cut the lead to one for the Trolls with a goal in the 49th minute, however, a pair of Adam Knight goals, one from the far right wing in the 51st minute and the second from inside the 18-yard box at the 78:52 mark, sealed the 5-2 win.

Despite playing the majority of the contest a man down, the Warriors outshot the Trolls 19-9 including a 13-5 margin in shots on goal. Tech attempted six corner kicks to five for TCC while sophomore goalkeeper Mac Baker made three saves while playing all 90 minutes.

"We had a good team performance today," stated Tech Head Coach David Bokhart. "We overcame some early adversity and finished with a convincing result. Our subs had a positive impact and I believe we have started to turn the corner with a new personality and we are committed to the change moving forward."
