@IndianaTechVB Wins Two on Final Day of IWU Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | MARION, Ind. – Led by 22 kills by senior outside hitter and All-Tournament team honoree, Christine Foest, the Indiana Tech volleyball team swept the University of St. Francis (Ind.) and Marian on the final day of the Wildcat Invitational at Luckey Arena on Saturday. Tech finished the invite 3-1.

The Warriors (5-3) earned a hard fought win to start the day, defeating the Cougars (4-3) in five sets, 3-2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-16, 19-25, 15-10). Tech hit .216 for the match led by 14 kills from Foest.

The Orange and Black got off to a fast start, hitting .417 in the first set, tallying 12 kills on 24 chances while hitting .300 (13-4-30) in the third and .212 (10-3-33) in the fourth set.

Foest hit .310 in the match, but was second in that category behind Stacy Nagy who tallied eight kills on 18 chances with just two errors to hit .333. St. Martin was second on the team with 10 kills while Shanice Richards added eight kills and a team-high eight blocks (3 BS, 5 BA).

Karli Jones collected 40 assists in the match while adding 10 digs. Taylor Kelso paced the defense with 23 digs with Haley Paonessa adding 13.

In the final match of the invitational, the Warriors made quick work of the Knights, winning in three sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 27-25).

Tech continued their hot hitting with a .274 (38-12-95) mark for the match, including a .382 (17-4-34) mark in the third set.

Foest paced the team at the net as she hit .571, registering eight kills on 14 attempts while not committing an error. Cassandra Sarabia had the most kills with 10 while Richards added six. Richards also had a team-high four blocks, including three solo.

Jones collected 31 assists in the match and Kelso tallied 12 digs, both team highs.

The Warriors return to home to begin Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 3 when they host Michigan-Dearborn at 7 p.m. Live coverage of the event, including video, can be found at www.indianatechwarriors.com/live.
