Box Score  | SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Landon Cochran's first collegiate goal gave the Indiana Tech men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Spring Arbor at the Cougar Soccer Field on Saturday.  The Warriors remained undefeated with the win, improving to 2-0-1 on the season while handing the Cougars their first loss, dropping them to 6-1-0.

"I'm proud of the team for the result," said Tech Head Coach David Bokhart. "We created some quality chances throughout the contest and probably should've converted a few more, but we scored enough to win."

After the Warriors missed two early shots, the home team was able to capitalize on their second opportunity in the eighth minute. Cory Swartzendruber sent a pass to Jared Putt who sent a one-touch pass across to the right wing where Storm Stevenson beat Tech keeper Mac Baker for a 1-0 lead.

 After several more missed shots, the Warriors finally broke through against Cougars keeper, Colbi Piper.  In the 28th minute, Braden Walker sent a long ball over the top of the defense where Adam Knight was able to run onto the ball, beating Piper in a 1-on-1 situation, for the Warriors first marker of the contest, tying the game at 1.

In the first half, Tech dominated the game, outshooting SAU 16-6 in the period including a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal. Piper made nine first half saves to keep the Cougars in the contest.

The Warriors continued to outplay the Cougars at the start of the second half and in the 57h minute, Zachary St. Aubin found Cochran for what would be the game-winning goal. St. Aubin ran onto a long pass down the right side, beat his defender and sent a pass to the foot of Cochran who sent his first touch into the back of the net for the 2-1 victory.

Both teams tallied eight shots in the half, with the Warriors tallying 24 in the contest while the Cougars collected 14. Tech also put 14 shot son frame to just three for the home team. The Orange and Black also registered five corner kicks to the four of SAU.

Baker made two saves in his 90 minutes while Piper made 12 saves in the contest.

"They are a very difficult team to defend and their width gave us trouble all day," said Bokhart. "We were fortunate to defend well enough when it counted and weathered the storm late."

The Warriors return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Mount Vernon, Ohio to take on Mount Vernon Nazarene. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
