@INTechWBB Snaps Five-Game Skid with Rout of Wolverines

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Lindsey Masnari netted a career-high 30 points and the Indiana Tech women's basketball team played stifling defense in a 104-49 rout of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, University of Michigan-Dearborn on Kline Court in the Schaefer Center on Wednesday night. The win snapped a five-game losing skid for Tech.

The Warriors (8-12, 7-5 WHAC) won the opening tip and Taylor Carver converted a three-point play the old fashioned way, on the first possession, to open the scoring and the defense took over, leading to a 13-0 run. Tech forced five turnovers and held the Wolverines (3-16, 1-10 WHAC) without a basket for 6:30 until a free throw put the visitors on the board. The visitors cut the lead to 10 with eight minutes left in the half, but the Orange and Black responded with a 32-11 run to close the period and push the lead to 31, 56-25 at the break.

Tech continued to play hard and never let off the gas in the second half. The Warriors continued to build their lead thanks to a strong defensive effort that limited the Wolverines to just eight baskets in the second half, four threes, and four free throws while forcing 10 turnovers in the final 20 minutes.

Offensively the Warriors played well, shooting 46.7 percent (35-for-75) from the field, 34.8 percent (8-for-23) from behind the arc and 76.5 percent (26-for-34) from the charity stripe while also recording 53 rebounds, 23 offensive, and scoring 48 points in the paint. Defensively, the Warriors held UMD to 28.6 percent (16-for-56) shooting, six points in the paint and just 32 rebounds while causing 24 turnovers.

Masnari led all scorers with 30 points while three other Warriors, Taylor Seiss (22), Baylee Rinehart (20) and Shallante Clements (11) also finished in double-figures. Clements recorded her second double-double of the season with a game-high 11 boards with Masnari also getting a double-double with 10 rebounds, her third of the year.

The Warriors seek back-to-back wins for the first time in 2015 when they host Aquinas on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
