FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On a night when the Indiana Tech wrestling team honored three seniors,
Kristopher McKinley,
Brett Yarbrough and
Akinniran Akinfemi, they also went 2-0 in their senior night duals, defeating Mott Community College and Calumet College of St. Joe.
In the first dual of the night, the Warriors downed the Bears, 39-15 behind three of falls from
Mitch Roadruck (165),
Brandon Sunday (197) and
Kegan Clark-Sanchez (285). McKinley won his match via forfeit and then came back to win an exhibition match, 9-2. Yarbrough won handedly at 133, earning a 15-1 major decision.
Thomas Garty (149) earned a 17-0 tech fall and LJ Grayson (184) tallied six points on a forfeit.
Tech ended the night with a 30-12 thumping of the Crimson Wave. The seniors opened the dual with three consecutive victories as McKinley registered a 16-1 tech gall and Yarbrough followed with a 12-1 major decision. Akinfemi then earned his third career win with his first ever all at 149 to give the Warriors the 15-0 lead. Roadruck earned his second win of the night with a 6-2 decision at 165, pushing the lead back to 15 after a Crimson Wave win at 157. Tech added six more points from a forfeit at 184 and Clark-Sanchez ended the night with a fall at 285.
The Warriors return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 as they travel to Columbia, Ky. to face Lindsey Wilson and Life in a triangular hosted by Lindsey Wilson College.
