PHOTOS | RESULTS | FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In the second dual of the day, the sixth-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team battled No. 5 Great Falls (Mont.) for the third time this season, suffering their first loss to the Argonauts, 26-19 on mat 16 in expo III at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum as part of the NWCA National Duals Championships.
The Argonauts took the first two weights, getting a 2-1 win in the tiebreaker at 125 before getting a fall at 133. Twelfth-ranked
Robert Humphrey registered a big fall over No. 3 Kyle Wilson to cut the deficit to three, 9-6. A decision and fall in the next two matches gave UGF the 18-6 advantage, but eighth-seeded
Jacob Johnson won a 12-7 decision for three more points.
After a major made it 22-9, Tech responded with a 21-8 major decision by No. 6
Darryl Grayson and a fall by
Brandon Sunday over No. 13 Taylor Vaughn cut the Warriors deficit to just three, 19-22. Great Falls got a win at heavyweight for the final margin, 26-19.
Tech will look to rebound in the consolation bracket as they will face the winner of Bethany (Kan.) and York (Neb.) at 5 p.m. on mat 15.
