Warriors Season Ends with Loss to No. 18 Gray Wolves

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The fifth seeded Indiana Tech volleyball saw its season come to a close on Saturday as they fell to 18th ranked and top seeded Lourdes in three sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-14) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) semifinals at Tam-O-Shanter.

Tech jumped out a 4-1 lead on the undefeated Gray Wolves in the first set, with Keasia Carlisle getting three straight points. The Warriors appeared poised to give Lourdes all they could handle as they pushed the lead to 5-2, but the hosts would flex their muscles and use a 23-5 run to take the first set.

The regular season champions would continue their balanced offensive attack in the second, outhitting the Orange and Black .333 to .074. as they cruised to a 25-14 win to back the Warriors against the wall.

Tech would battle back in the third though, knotting the score all up at three before the Grey Wolves went on a 5-0 spurt to take an 8-3 lead. Gabby Staggs and Katelyn St. Martin would combine on the next three points however, to bring the Warriors within two, but they failed to get any closer as Lourdes closed the book with a 25-14 win.

Sarabia had a team-high eight kills while St. Martin added six kills and 12 digs. Taylor Kelso closed out her record-breaking season with 18 digs to put her at 780 for the season, the most in program history.

Tech finished the season with a 22-16 record and will see seniors Emily Williams, Arrianna Cumberledge and St. Martin leave due to graduation, but returns a solid core in juniors Jazmin Alexander, Paige Doellman and Sarabia on the front line along with freshmen Gabby Staggs and Keasia Carlisle. Kelso will be back patrolling the back line and the Orange and Black will be set in the passing department with Karli Jones and Autumn Stokes.
