CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The third ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team took to the mats on Saturday at the Campbellsville Duals, taking on Life University, Brewton-Parker, Campbellsville and Truett-McConnell.
Tech opened the day by taking on 10
th ranked Life, falling in a tight contest, 20-16.
Mitch Pawlak and
John Weldon both won by decision at 133 pounds and 165 pounds, respectively, by scores of 9-8, and 3-2.
Travis Barroquillo pinned John Hyre in the 141 pound division and
Chase Hack defeated Rowdy Prior by major decision, 13-4.
The Warriors would go on to win their next two matches, defeating Truett-McConnell, 47-0, and Brewton Parker, 34-12.
Sawyer Miller would win both his matches by decisions, 14-7, and 13-9, respectively, while Pawlak picked up an 8-1 decision and a pin.
Barroquillo would earn a pin against Brewton Parker and take a forfeit from Truett-McConnell.
Justin Atkinson would win by decision in both matches at 149 pounds, 9-0, and 8-3, respectively.
The Orange and Black would then fall to the host and seventh ranked Tigers, 22-14, in their finale. Pawlak and Barroquillo each won by major decision in the 133 and 141 pound weight classes by scores of 12-4 and 14-3, respectively.
Thomas Garty won by a 2-0 decision at 149 pounds and Weldon won at 165 pounds by a 16-9 decision.
The Warriors return to action on Dec. 6 when they compete in the 56
th Annual Little State Meet, hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
