Orange and Black Dominate Wolverines

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team cruised to an 80-43 win over Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon at the Schaefer Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action to go over .500 for the first time this season.

Taylor Seiss led all scorers with 23 points while picking up a career-high five steals. Haley Cook and Kendall Knapke also scored in double figures with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Cook dished out a game-high six assists while pulling up down six rebounds and dishing out five assists. Knapke added seven rebounds and four steals.

After falling behind 5-0 and missing their first three shots from the field, Knapke got the Warriors on the board with a three-pointer on a fast break to pull Tech within two. Cook would then give the Orange and Black a 6-5 lead at 6:55 in the first period with her first triple of the afternoon.

After a pair of free throws from Michigan-Dearborn put the visitors back on top, Siess connected on a three-pointer to give the Warriors a 9-7 lead, one which they would not give up as they closed the quarter on a 10-2 run.

The visitors would open the second just as they had the first period with a 5-0 spurt, but the Warriors responded with a 14-4 run to push the lead to 32-19 and ended the half on a 21-8 run.

Tech would hold the Wolverines to 20 points in the second half while limiting them to 25 percent shooting from the floor and only 16 percent from behind the arc.

The Warriors forced Michigan-Dearborn into 27 turnovers and converted those opportunities into 30 points. Tech had a 37-23 advantage on the boards and a 22-2 advantage in fast break points.
