@INTechMBB Drops Back and Forth Affair

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team traveled to Don Ridler Fieldhouse for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest with Lawrence Tech on Saturday, falling 62-59 in a game that featured nine ties and 13 lead changes.

The Warriors (10-16, 7-11 WHAC) took control early with Tanner Watkins hitting a three-pointer on the opening possession and Tyrece Edwards sinking a jumper three possessions later for a 5-0 lead. Five straight points from the Blue Devils (5-21, 2-16 WHAC) tied the score and began the see-saw battle. Tech maintained the lead until the 10:47 mark when an LTU layup gave the home team the one point advantage. The teams traded baskets until Franklin Lindsey and Josh Fleming knocked down back-to-back layups to go up three. A Laurence Mifsud free throw put the Orange and Black up five, but the Blue Devils hit two shots from behind the arc to end the half and take a 24-23 lead into the break.

It was much of the same in the second half as Tech scored four of the first six points to go up one and the teams went back and forth until consecutive layups by Fleming and Milos Milidragovic along with an Edwards dunk put the Warriors back up five, 37-32 with 13 minutes to play. Over the next nine minutes the teams traded the lead and tied five times, the last coming at 50 with LTU hitting a three-pointer to break the tie and Tech didn't lead again. An Arben Camaj layup cut the deficit to one and after the Blue Devils missed a free throw the Warriors had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but couldn't get the three to fall.

The Warriors finished the contest shooting 41.4 percent (24-for-58) from the field thanks to a 15-for-33 (45.45%) second half while converting 7-of-24 (29.2%) three-pointers in the contest and 4-of-6 (66.7%) free throws. At the defensive end, the home team shot 48.8 percent (24-for-43) including a 10-for-19 (52.65) mark from behind the arc and a 10-for-16 (62.5%) mark at the charity stripe.

Tech won inside, outscoring the Blue Devils 22-18 in the paint while also holding a 10-0 margin in points off turnovers, 5-0 advantage in second chance points and a 6-0 margin in fast break points.

Milidragovic led three Tech players in double figures with 11 while Fleming and Lindsey each added 10. Lindsey also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds for another double-double.

The Warriors return to Dan Kline Court on Wednesday, Feb. 11 when they welcome No. 5 Davenport to the Schaefer Center for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. Live coverage of the game will be available on Indiana Tech Sports Network at www.indianatechwarriors.com/live.
