Eight Run Second, Solid Pitching Push @INTechSoftball's Streak to Nine

BRIEF: The winning ways continued for the Indiana Tech softball games at the NTC Spring Games as the Warriors have now one nine-in-a-row thanks to some hot hitting and solid pitching. Six players had at least two hits and two pitchers went at least four innings allowing just one run each to help Tech sweep a two-team doubleheader.
 
FLOW:
GAME 1
- After a quiet first Tech loaded the bases with one out in the second but failed to score
- The Warriors had another chance in the third with two on and none out but couldn't get a hit
- The Orange and Black plated two runs on three hits and an error in the fourth
- Jessica Cotton scored on an error and Sofia Johantgen singled in Cortney Bingham
- Rio Grande got on the board with an RBI single in the fourth
- Cotton doubled and Alli Watson singled home a run each in the fifth to add to the margin
- Two hits and an error plated the final run in the seventh
 
GAME 2
- One hit and an error gave the Racers of UNOH their first run
- UNOH added to their lead with four runs on five hits and another error in the second
- Tech got those runs back and then some with an eight-run second inning
- Bingham doubled home Jenavie Rivas
- Dembinski recorded a sac fly to score Jamie Kilps
- Foltz drove in a pair and Plezbert reached on an error to score two more and take the lead
- Rivas put an exclamation point on the inning with a two-run home run to left
- An RBI double in the third cut the lead to two
- Foltz and Rivas combined to drive in three more runs in the third for an 11-6 lead
- Plezbert drew an RBI walk in the fourth
- Back-to-back RBI singles in the sixth by Foltz and Plezbert ended the game by run-rule
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
GAME 1
- Cotton led the offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI
- Juliaclare Plezbert collected two hits and scored a run
- Five other Warriors recorded a hit
- Maggie McCrory (2-1) allowed just one run on two hits, striking out and walking four in seven innings
 
GAME 2
- Johantgen, Foltz and Rivas each finished 3-for-4
- Johantgen scored three times, Foltz drove in four runs and scored once, Rivas drove in three and scored twice
- Bingham had two hits, drove in a run and scored two times
- Plezbert had three RBIs and scored once
- Tori Simper scored three runs without a hit, walking four times
- Simper (3-1) also got the win in relief, allowing one run on two hits over 4.1 innings
 
UP NEXT: Two-team tripleheader against #RV Southeastern and Oklahoma Baptist at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. All three games will be at Hancock Park No. 3 with first pitch against SEU at 9 a.m. followed by a doubleheader against OBU beginning at 1 p.m.
