BRIEF: The Indiana Tech men's tennis team faced its third straight nationally ranked opponent and suffered back-to-back Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference losses for the first time this season in a 7-2 loss to 25th-ranked Aquinas at Swinney Park on Saturday. The Warriors took games at No. 4 and No. 6 singles while losing several other close matches.
 
FLOW:
The East Region's 10th-ranked pair of Gunnar Peery and Kristoff Saari were nearly upset by the Warriors pair of Joaquin Ferrando and Nicholas Aguirre, 8-6, and the second match to finish was at No. 3 doubles where Fernando Sousa and Mikel Oscoz lost by the same score. At the No. 2 position, Vinicius Silva and Nicholas Tripanon pushed the AQ pair of Andy Struble and Kenny Garstecki to a tiebreak, falling 9-8 (7-2).
 
Aguirre was impressive in singles play, cutting the Warriors deficit to two with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Ferrando, who is ranked 15th in the region, pushed Saari, who is No. 7 in the East and 30th overall, to a pair of full sets, falling 7-5, 7-5. The Saints sealed the match win with a victory at the No. 2 position where Struble beat Sousa in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
 
Alberto Tenias got the Warriors other point at No. 6 singles, winning in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Tech nearly picked up two more points as Oscoz (5-7,7-6, 6-2) and Kino de Leon (4-6, 6-3, 7-6) both lost in three sets.
 
IN THE NUMBERS:
Aguirre moved to 8-2 overall, including a 4-1 mark at the No. 4 position…Tenias is now 6-3 in singles play with a 2-0 mark at the No. 6 spot…As a team Tech is now 39-31 in singles play and 17-17 in doubles action
