BRIEF: The fourth-seeded Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team met Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe, seventh-seeded Lawrence Tech, in the National Women's Lacrosse League National Championship fifth-place game on Saturday, falling in triple overtime, 15-14. It was the fourth time the Warriors faced the Blue Devils and was the first win in the series for LTU.

Freshman Kristina Scott followed her six goal night by opening the scoring of this contest, but the Blue Devils scored eight of the next 10 goals, with Sam Vikstrom and Alexa Winter breaking up the scoring, making it an 8-3 game. Vikstrom fed freshman Dakota Dawson to end a three-goal run by LTU and sparked a three-goal spurt for the Warriors with Lauran Allard and Aubri Hazen each adding tallied to make it a two score game. A late LTU marker put them ahead 9-6 at the half.
 
Alexis DiGiovanni (Vikstrom) and Scott scored the first two goals of the half to cut the deficit to one, but four consecutive tallied by the Blue Devils made it a 13-8 game. Vikstrom found Winter to end the run and start a four goal stretch by the Orange and Black with goals by Scott, Vikstrom and Allard (Vikstrom) to make it 13-12.
 
With eight minutes left LTU went back up two, but Vikstrom continued to battle and netted a pair of goals, with the equalizer assisted by DiGiovanni to send the game to overtime tied at 14. The teams each had three shots, putting two on goal in the first two overtime periods, but neither broke through until the third overtime period when the Blue Devils only shot found the net for the win.
 
IN THE NUMBERS:
Vikstrom had one of her best games of the year, tallying eight points on four goals and four assists while also collecting seven groundballs and causing four turnovers…Scott scored three goals on four shots while also adding six groundballs…Allard and Winter each added two goals...Meaghan Eldridge made 10 saves in here 69 minutes
