BRIEF: The Indiana Tech softball team got home runs from
Jenevie Rivas and
Jessica Cotton, while scoring nine runs on nine hits but it wasn't enough to take down the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone at CU Softball Stadium on Saturday as the home team swept the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Warriors made a pair of comebacks but never led in the 14 innings.

FLOW:GAME 1- The Warriors scored first in the top of the second as Rivas led off with a home run to center
- Two hits and a throwing error put the home team ahead with a pair of unearned runs
- Cornerstone got a two-out, 3-run home run in the third to make the score 5-1
- A four-run fourth inning allowed the Warriors to tie the score

Hannah Foltz drew a leadoff walk and scored on a fielding error
- Cotton singled and scored on an RBI groundout by starter
Maggie McCrory and Sophia Johantgen singled home Rivas with one out to cut the deficit to one

Cortney Bingham, who singled, tied the score when CU chose to throw to second when Johantgen attempted to steal second
- It was short-lived as the home team scored three unearned runs on two hits and a Tech error in the bottom of the frame to make it 8-5
- The Golden Eagles added another run in the fifth and sixth for the final margin

GAME 2- Tech got off to a fast start, plating two runs in the first as
Alli Watson and
Tori Simper each reached to leadoff the contest and Cotton drove them in with a two-out, two-run single
- Another 3-run home run for the Golden Eagles put the home team in front 3-2 after one

Katie Bird drew another leadoff walk for the Warriors and scored on a Simper single to center to tie the game
- Three errors and three hits led to four CU runs in the second for a 7-3 score
- Cotton opened the third inning with a solo home run to cut the deficit to three, but neither offense produced the rest of the game

HIGHLIGHTS:GAME 1- Tech tallied five hits from five difference players
- Rivas, McCrory and Johantgen each had an RBI with Rivas also scoring twice

GAME 2- Cotton had two of the Warriors four hits, driving in three and scoring once
- Foltz and Simper each had a hit and scored a run with Simper also driving in a run

Jamie Kilps pitched well in relief, allowing just four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings

UP NEXT: The Warriors are scheduled to host No. 15 Davenport (Mich.) in their home opener at Havenhurst Park in New Haven, Ind. on Wednesday, Apr. 8Â with first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
