DETROIT – The Indiana Tech volleyball team snapped its two-match losing streak on Wednesday evening as they defeated WHAC rival Marygrove in four games (25-16, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22) at Detroit Jesuit High School.
The Warriors offense was on fire through the first two sets, hitting .333 and .343 and recording 33 kills. The trio of
Katelyn St. Martin,
Jazmin Alexander and
Cassie Sarabia led the way with 17, 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Alexander led the Warriors in attack percentage with a .414 while Sarabia finished the night at a .333 clip.
The Warriors started off hot in the first set, cruising out to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. Tied 4-4 in the second set, Tech would rattle off seven straight points to take control and go up 2-0.
The Mustangs would use two five-point stretches in the third set to hold off the Orange and Black and force a fourth set. Down 13-11, the Warriors would take seven of the next eight points thanks to kills from Sarabia and
Gabby Staggs, and a couple of Mustang errors, to take a 18-14 lead.
After the hosts tied it up at 20, Tech dug deep and closed out the match with kills from St. Martin and Alexander.
Taylor Kelso led the Warriors in digs with 22, while freshman
Mara Zell recorded her second career double-double, notching 20 assists and 10 digs.
Karli Jones dished out a season-high 36 assists and Staggs led the way at the net with seven total blocks.
