FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team defeated WHAC rival Cornerstone in five sets, 25-22, 21-25, 10-25, 25-23, 15-12, on Friday evening at the Schaefer Center Gymnasium.
After falling behind two sets to one, the Warriors battled back in the fourth set and sent the match to a decisive fifth set. Tech then jumped out to a 5-1 lead, forcing the Golden Eagles to call a timeout.
Two straight kills from
Cassie Sarabia pushed the lead to 7-2 and Sarabia would give the Orange and Black an 8-3 advantage before switching sides. Down 9-4, Cornerstone would rattle off six straight points to take the lead and force head coach
Kourtney Wilson to call a timeout.
Undeterred, Tech would grab the lead back following kills by
Paige Doellman and
Cassie Sarabia and
Jazmin Alexander and
Gabby Staggs would combine for the game winning block four points later to give the Warriors a crucial conference win.
Sarabia finished with a career-high 19 kills and 13 digs, while Alexander added 14.
Karli Jones dished out 32 assists and
Taylor Kelso had 28 digs.
Mara Zell recorded 14 assists and 10 digs for her third-career double-double.
