FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team fell to NAIA #6 University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH), 6-2, on Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Racers got the scoring started early and often on a cool fall evening, as Pascal Debowiak headed in a cross from Josh Scully just 49 seconds into the match and put the hosts in a quick 1-0 hole. Just over six minutes later, Jorge Salcedo beat Tech keeper
Logan Kelly to the far post and give the visitors the 2-0 lead.
Northwestern Ohio would add two more goals to push their lead to 4-0 at halftime.
The Warriors showed up life in the 54th minute when
Zachary St. Aubin took
Brandon Dinsmore's pass off a
Nyi Nyi Aung corner kick and slotted it into the right corner to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Racers would counter in the 75th minute to increase the lead to 5-1 when Carlos Garces slid through the box to get his foot on a deflected ball from Michael Gonzalo and put it in the net.
Brennan Cochran knocked in his team-leading eighth goal via a penalty kick in the 82nd after a UNOH handball in the box. Carlos Monterrey would close out the scoring by heading in the cross from Henrick Palsson in the 90th minute.
The Warriors were outshot 22-5, with 13 of the Racers shots coming on goal, while Tech was only able to muster two on goal. Kelly finished the match with seven saves as his record fell to 3-4-0.
Tech (3-5-0, 0-2-0 WHAC) heads to Southfield, Michigan on Saturday when they take on Lawrence Tech in a WHAC matchup. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and links to live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
