ASHLAND, Ohio – The second ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team opened the 2016 portion of their schedule with some tough losses in dual action to top-20 NCAA Division II powerhouses Indianapolis and Ashland on Saturday at the Wendy's Duals. Tech fell to the 16
th-ranked Greyhounds, 37-7, and the host and 19
th-ranked Eagles, 28-12.
Second ranked
LJ Grayson (184 pounds) went 2-0 on the day as he defeated Indianapolis's Taylor DeLong 12-2 in a major decision before defeating the Eagles' Brandon O'Neill 8-4 in a decision.
John Weldon (165 pounds) would also go 2-0 on the afternoon as he defeated Barry McGinley of Indianapolis and Brenden Stanley of Ashland in 9-5 and 6-0 decisions, respectively.
Kegan Clark-Sanchez also scored a victory against the Greyhounds in the 285 pound division with a 7-1 decision over Dylan Faulkenberg.
Sawyer Miller (133 pounds) and
Robert Humphrey (141 pounds) picked up victories against the Eagles with 9-4 and 6-5 decisions, respectively.
Tech (7-4 in duals action) returns to action on Jan. 8-9 when they head over to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for the National Wrestling Coaching Association (NWCA) Multi-Divisional National Duals. Action begins at 9 a.m. each day. For more information on the duals, click
