Warriors Take Down Gray Wolves on the Road

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team won their third game in a row on Wednesday evening as they defeated Lourdes University, 55-46, to sweep the season series.

Lavonte Davis led the Warriors with 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists while playing all 40 minutes. Reigning Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Player of the Week Miles Robinson had 13 points, six assists and five rebounds while Dominique Walls added 12 points, five rebounds and a game-high four blocks. Tanner Watkins chipped in nine points, three rebounds and three assists in his second straight start.

Walls got the scoring started with a layup and an and-one on the Warriors opening possession as Tech led wire-to-wire. After the Gray Wolves tied it up at three on their first possession, Davis would convert a fast-break layup and Robinson hit a three-pointer to put the visitors up 8-3 with just under 15 minutes in the first half.

Lourdes would cut the deficit to one on four different occasions in last 14 minutes of the half, but back-to-back three-pointers from Watkins would start an 11-5 run in the last 2:34 of the opening half with Robinson capping the half with an and-one play to put the Orange and Black up 30-23.

A quick 5-0 spurt by the hosts would get them to within three in the opening minute of the second half, but a 13-6 run by Tech would put the Warriors up 43-33, their biggest lead of the game, with 12:13 to play.

Both sides would go as cold as the weather outside however, with neither team scoring a single point for the next 3:57 and going 0-for-9 from the field. A layup from Lourdes broke the drought at 8:16 in the second half, sparking an 11-5 run to bring them within four points and 4:05 left in the game.

The Warriors would turn to Robinson, Davis and Walls down the stretch, as the trio scored the last seven points and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line for head coach John Peckinpaugh as Tech came out of Tam-O-Shanter with a crucial conference victory.

Tech (15-6, 11-3 WHAC) returns home for a Saturday afternoon showdown with top-ranked Davenport. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Schaefer Center and links to live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
