FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team held off a tough Siena Heights squad to win 78-74 on Wednesday evening at the Schaefer Center.
Dominique Walls had a career-high 28 points while shooting 68.4% from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds, picked up four blocks and recorded three steals. Two-time reigning WHAC Player of the Week
Miles Robinson poured in 16 points, three assists, two steals and two assists.
Jaelan Manson added 11 points and four rebounds off the bench while tying his career-high in assists with seven.
Lavonte Davis picked up his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds while flirting with a triple-double with a career-high seven blocks.
The Saints jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first minute and a half, but Tech scored two quick baskets to tie the game at the 16:30 mark. A 12-4 run from the visitors would put the SHU up 18-12 with just under 10 minutes to go in the half.
After falling behind by as many as nine points, the Orange and Black would begin to chip their way back, with back-to-back baskets from Manson sparking an 11-2 run that tied the game at 25 after a fast-break bucket from Robinson and causing Siena Heights to call a timeout at the 4:03 mark.
Tech would close the half on a 13-10 run and went into the locker room up 38-35.
An 11-2 spurt to open the second half by the Saints allowed them to retake the lead and go up 46-40 with 17:47 to go. The Warriors would respond with a 12-6 run of their own and tied the game at 52 with 13:31 to go after a three from
Jantzen Goodwin After trading baskets over the next seven possessions the hosts used an 8-0 run to pull ahead 65-61 with 8:25 left in the game. After the visitors tied the game back up at 71 with four minutes to go, Walls would get a steal and slam it home with a rim-shaking dunk that brought the crowd to its feet before getting a put-back on Tech's next possession and making the Saints call a timeout with 1:49 left.
A three from George Goodman brought Siena Heights to within 76-74 and 25 seconds to go in the game, but Robinson would hit two-free throws to give the Warriors a two-possession lead as they got the win.
Tech (16-7, 12-4 WHAC) takes a break from conference action on Monday when they travel to Rochester for a "Battle of the Warriors" in a rematch from earlier in the season. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Rochester High School.
