LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team fell to Madonna on Saturday afternoon, 82-71, for their third straight loss.
Taylor Seiss scored a season-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting and was 6-of-12 from the three point line.
Haley Cook and
Kendall Knapke also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Knapke grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and had two blocks and a pair of steals while Cook added four boards. Taylor Caver had eight points and five rebounds while
Rayana Villalpando had four points, five rebounds and four assists.
After trading punches the first few possessions the Warriors would use a 9-3 run, sparked by a Knapke and-1 play and a Seiss three pointer, to take a 16-14 lead with 2:37 left in the first quarter. Both teams would scores seven points apiece as Tech ended the period ahead 23-21.
A 9-3 spurt to open the second quarter gave the visitors a 32-24 lead with just under six minutes to go until halftime as Cook scored eight of her 14 points in the second. Tech would hold the Crusaders to just four field goals in the second period, but the hosts would hit seven throws to overcome their shooting woes.
Madonna would open the second half with a 9-1 spurt that put them up 45-40 with seven and a half minutes left in the third period while the Warriors would only score 12 points and 57-51 heading into the third period.
The Crusaders would outscore the Orange and Black 25-20, and went 10-of-14 from the charity stripe, including 8-of-10 in the final two minutes to seal the game for Madonna.
