JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team defeated No. 11 Lindsey Wilson, 33-11, on Tuesday evening at Jeffersonville High School.
Sawyer Miller started off things off with a 9-3 decision at 125-pounds to give the Warriors an early 3-0 lead while
Mitch Pawlak pinned Jake Burroughs just 68 seconds into his match at 133-lbs to score six points for the Orange and Black.
Matthew Miller won by injury default at 141-lbs. while
Thomas Garty dropped a tough 4-3 decision in ninth-ranked Daniel Leonard at 149-lbs. to give Lindsey Wilson their first points of the night.
Jacob Gross would take a hard-fought 5-3 decision loss to Isaiah Frank in the 157-lbs. bout as the Blue Raiders cut the deficit to 15-6.
Fifth-ranked
John Weldon would fall in a 15-1 major decision to 157-lbs. top-ranked Cam Tessari as Tessari moved up to 165-lbs. for the match to cut Tech's lead to four with four matches to go.
The Orange and Black would increase their lead to 18-10 following a 5-3 decision from
Antonio Rodriguez at 174-lbs, and 11
th-ranked
Dillon Francisco would add three more points to Tech's lead with a 7-4 decision over second-ranked Matt Walker at 184-lbs.
Trevor Yank sealed the victory for the Warriors with a pin over Corey Hinkle at 3:40 while
Oscar Martinez capped the night with a pin at 6:45 over Raynel Brown to give the Warriors the 33-11 victory.
Tech (4-1) returns to action Saturday when they travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana for the Indiana Little State Invitational, hosted by Wabash College. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m. from Knowling Fieldhouse.
