Tech Moves to 5-0 with Win over Lancers

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team pushed its winning streak to five games on Wednesday evening with an 81-74 victory over regional rival Grace at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
 
Taylor Seiss scored a game-high 26 points for the Warriors and going 5-9 from behind the three-point line while Haley Cook added 22 points and was 4-7 from deep. Keanna Gary chipped in 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second Tech double-double.
 
Tech would jump out to a 19-9 lead over the Lancers in the opening eight minutes of the game with Seiss knocking down three three-pointers in the stretch. Grace would open the second quarter on an 8-2 run, but the Warriors would roar back with a 17-4 run to extend their lead to 16 points and went into halftime up 45-30.
 
The visitors would hold a double-digit lead for most of the third quarter, with the hosts cutting the deficit to nine at three different points but unable to get any closer as Tech would head into the final 10 minutes up 60-50.
 
The final quarter would end up going 24-21 in favor of the Orange and Black, but the Lancers would make things interesting in the final two minutes as they cut the Warrior lead to five at 79-74 with 1:21 to go, but Tech hold Grace scoreless for the rest of the game to hold on for the win.
 
Tech (5-0) will take a week off before heading to Madonna to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday from The Activities Center.
