GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Indiana Tech baseball team took the final two games of the weekend against Georgetown College on Sunday to take three out of four from the hosts, winning 3-0 in game one before taking the nightcap, 5-1, at Robert N. Wilson Field.
The Warriors got all the offense they need in the first inning of game one as they pushed three runs across the plate with only one hit.
Tighe Koehring got the scoring started with a single to score
Kyle Mead and
Benny Clark III.
Brian Hakes would come around to score two batters later after a fielding error in the Tigers outfield.
Johnny Crawford went the distance for Tech while allowing two hits and striking out three batters.
Game two featured another dominant pitching performance as
Tyler Wells picked up his second win of the season, allowing just one run on seven hits while fanning two Tigers. Hakes drove in two of the Orange and Black's runs as he went 2-for-2 while Koehring and
Glen McClain also drove in a run each.
Hakes got the offense going in the third as he doubled in Mead to push the first run across the plate while Koehring got an RBI groundout to score
Branson Dossen. The Warriors would tack on two more runs in the sixth as Clark III took off for home as
David Barksdale was stealing second to get the third run on the board. Barksdale would score one batter later as McClain drove it deep enough to right to earn a sacrifice fly.
Hakes would add an insurance run one inning later as he hit a sacrifice fly to right to drive in
Zach Fyfe.
Tech (7-1) returns to action on Friday when they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio for the Al Oliver Classic, hosted by Shawnee State University. The Warriors will first take on the hosts on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Branch Rickey Park. Live stats will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
