FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball men's basketball used a strong second half shooting performance and lockdown defensive effort to win their fourth game in a row with a 74-54 upset over No. 22 Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.
Miles Robinson led all scorers with a game-high 24 points, six assists, five steals and three rebounds.
Dominique Walls recorded his second double-double in as many games with an 11 point, 15 rebound performance to go along with three assists and three blocks.
Tanner Watkins and
Milos Milidragovic also scored 11 points, with Milidragovic going 4-of-5 from the field to tie his season-high in points.
Tech lead for all but 90 seconds on the day as they took advantage of 13 Saints turnovers and turned those into 22 points. Tied at six apiece 2:35 into the game, the Warriors went on a 17-4 run over the next eight minutes to go up 23-10.
The Saints would counter with a 9-4 run to cut the deficit to nine points with 5:12 remaining in the half and went into the locker room on a 12-9 spurt to get to 37-31.
A bucket from Jake Bullock brought the visitors to four at the start of the second half, but a three from Robinson started a 15-2 run for the hosts to push their lead to 17 with just over 13 minutes play. The Grand Rapids native had 11 of the 15 Warrior points during the run.
Aquinas cut the deficit down to 11 with 9:23 left in the game, but Watkins answered with a triple, which started a stretch of six straight three-pointers with Watkins hitting half of them, as the Orange and Black as they extended their lead to as many as 21 points to cruise to the season sweep of the Saints and take sole possession of third place in the WHAC.
Tech (19-7, 14-4 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they start a three-game road trip, starting with Northwestern Ohio. Action begins at 7:30 p.m. from Racers Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio. Links to live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
