Tech Picks Up 20th Win Against Racers

LIMA, Ohio – The 22nd-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team won its fifth straight game and 20th of the season on Wednesday evening with a 64-55 win over Northwestern Ohio at Racer Gymnasium.

Tanner Watkins and Miles Robinson each had 15 points for the Warriors, with Watkins hitting five three-pointers. Tyrece Edwards added a season-high 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Lavonte Davis and Milos Milidragovic chipped in seven points apiece, while reigning WHAC Player of the Week Dominique Walls had five points and six rebounds.

The two teams exchanged leads throughout the first 13 minutes of the game as neither side was able to get an advantage. Watkins would then hit back-to-back three-pointers at the 7:09 mark to give the Warriors a 16-14 lead, their first since the 16:53 mark.

A basket from UNOH's Lawrence Jackson tied the game on the next possession, but Watkins would answer with another three to put Tech back up 19-16. He would hit his fourth triple of the night at the 3:52 mark to give the visitors a 23-18 lead as the Orange and Black led 30-27 at halftime.

Tech would push their lead to double-digits with 12:52 to go in the game following back-to-back three-pointers from Robinson. The Racers would cut the deficit to five just four minutes later, but the Warriors would not bend any more as they got an and-one play from Milidragovic and Watkins fifth triple of the night, plus another three from Robinson to go up 54-43 with 6:41 to play.

An 8-0 run from Northwestern Ohio brought the hosts to within three with three and a half minutes to go, setting up another exciting finish in the series. Jaelan Manson would start an 8-2 run with a three and the Warriors held the Racers to just 1-of-5 shooting over the last two minutes though, to hang on to the win.

Tech (20-7, 10-4 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. game against Lawrence Tech on the road. Links to live stats and video will be available at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
