DAYTON, Ohio – The No. 5/18 (NAIA/Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association) Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team fell to MCLA No. 1 Dayton, 12-11, in Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) action on Sunday afternoon at Stuart Field.
The game was a back-and-forth affair between the Warriors and the Flyers with six ties and seven lead changes in the rainy matinée with the defending MCLA Division II National Champions.
William McKinney led the way offensively with four goals and two assists while picking up a pair of ground balls.
Kyle Goehring added three goals while
Jace Childs chipped in two goals and two assists.
Aidan Jarmus was 15-26 on faceoff attempts and grabbed seven ground balls.
Dayton took an early 3-1 lead before Tech stormed back with four unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Flyers would respond with three straight goals and led 6-5 with under six minutes to go in the first half, but
Brian Nichter would tie it up at the 3:03 mark as the teams headed into the locker room knotted up at six.
The Orange and Black would score three more times in the third period and score another two goals in the opening nine minutes of the fourth quarter to lead 11-9, but the defending CCLA champions would come back with three straight goals in the final six minutes to come away with the hard-fought victory.
