BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Indiana Tech baseball team fell to Webber International, 4-3, on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday evening at Hearts of Florida Field, as they saw their four-game winning streak snapped.
Peyton Newsom picked up two RBI's while
Brian Hakes went 2-3 with a double and picked up the other RBI.
Glen McClain would also double and
Charlie Sipe collected three hits.
Johnny Crawford went six innings for the Orange and Black in the no-decision, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six.
Connor McLaughlin was handed the loss after going 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out one.
The visiting Warriors got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, with Hakes scoring
Kyle Mead with a double to right center before Newsome drove in
Benny Clark III two batters later with a sac fly to left.
The host Warriors tied it up at 2 in the third with a homer from Daniel Aviles, but Tech made it a 3-2 game in the sixth after Newsome hit another sac fly, this time to score Clark III again.
Webber International tied it up in the eighth with a single from D. Pezon and then came up with back-to-back hits to open the bottom of the night against Tech. After an intentional walk, McLaughlin got the next batter to strike out but Aviles would strike again, this time with a sac fly to win the game for the Forest Green and White
Tech (13-3) returns to action on Thursday with a single nine-inning game against Edward Waters. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from J.P. Small Memorial Stadium.
