PORSTMOUTH, Ohio – The Indiana Tech baseball team closed out its weekend with a split at the Al Oliver Classic on Sunday, falling to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival Concordia, 3-2, and defeating Fisher College, 13-1, at Branch Rickey Park.
Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first over the Cardinals.
Mark Carpenter would score off a fielder's choice from
Tighe Koehring, who would advance to third on
Peyton Newsom's double in the next at-bat before scoring on a passed ball two batters later.
Concordia would come right back in the bottom half of the inning with five hits off of
Tyler Wells to tie the game. The Cardinals would then score the winning run in the third off a sacrifice fly to left.
The Warriors would explode for 13 runs in the second game against the Falcons, recording 16 hits and scoring in six of their eight innings of at-bats.
Carpenter finished the game with three RBI's and two hits, while
Glen McClain went 3-for-3 with two RBI's.
Keith Tatum also had two RBI's.
Johnny Crawford improved to 3-0 on the season with six innings of four-hit ball, allowing the lone run while striking out five.
Tech (8-2) kicks off its Spring Break trip next week with Ave Marie University on March 13. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
